# Tax Distribution

TaxSplit automatically collects a configurable transaction tax and distributes it based on your token’s settings.

### How it works

#### 1) Transaction tax

When someone buys or sells your token, a small percentage (the tax) is automatically collected.

* You set this percentage when creating your token.
* Typical range: **1–10%**.

#### 2) Tax split

The collected tax is split between developers and holders based on your configuration.

# Authentication

TaxSplit uses wallet-based authentication with JWT tokens. Obtain a token via the challenge-verify flow, then include it in the `Authorization` header for authenticated endpoints.

# Rate limits

Rate limits are enforced per category:

* **General API:** 100 requests per 15 minutes
* **Token creation:** 5 requests per hour
* **Upload endpoints:** 20 requests per hour

### When you exceed the limit

You will receive:

* HTTP `429 Too Many Requests`
